Back in 2011, after completing a half marathon with his editor friend Joel Rickett, Spencer outlined the idea of updating the traditional ABC book. A as new dad he was interested that Ball had been replaced with Babycinno, that kids were eating Hummus and Controlled Crying had entered into conversations.
H is for Hummus was born. Designed, illustrated and co-authored by Spencer it was published by Penguin books in 2013 where it sat as an alternative gift book. It was subsequently picked up, adapted and released by Overlook as Q is for Quinoa in the United States.
